In line with the Government of Pakistan’s, Green Pakistan Programme, the event was attended by top Navy officials, and business and media personnel.
“I am confident that this endeavor will lead to mangrove plantations on a massive scale along the Balochistan and Sindh coast in a bid to support nature, improve the environment and build a better Pakistan,” said Muhammad Zakaullah, Chief of the Naval Staff, who launched the campaign by planting the first mangrove sapling.
Muhammad Zakaullah also urged public and private sectors to commit to reversing mangroves deforestation, preventing forest degradation, helping reduce poverty and promoting sustainable livelihoods for all forest-dependent people.
