Mangroves for the Future (MFF) recognizes coastal ecosystems as rich assets vital for human society that must be restored, protected and invested in. This regional initiative is currently operating in the following 8 countries - Indonesia, Maldives, Pakistan, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Viet Nam and India. The MFF initiative in India is led by IUCN.
MFF India, under its second implementation phase, invites concept notes for the third round of Small Grants Projects. The broad thematic areas for support, under the overall ambit of Indian coastal and marine biodiversity conservation and management, include research studies on taxa and/or ecosystems, restoration ecology, alternative livelihood interventions, coastal management and specific, targeted knowledge products. Budgets will range from USD 10,000 to USD 20,000, for project durations between 8 to 18 months. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community based organizations (CBO), research & teaching agencies, private enterprises, universities, government led research agencies and other civil society organizations are eligible for submitting applications for support.
Concept notes, not exceeding five pages, should include the title, names of principal investigators and organizations, aims and objectives, methods, envisaged outcomes and a project summary budget. The deadline for receipt of concept notes is 5:30pm (India Standard Time) on Monday 27th June 2011. These will be reviewed and screened by a sub-committee of the NCB and MFF (India). Successful applicants will be invited to submit a detailed proposal by 15th July 2011, for which intimation shall be sent by 30th June 2011.
