Indonesia Call for Project Concept Notes June 2015

MFF is a partnership-led regional initiative chaired by IUCN and UNDP to promote investment in coastal ecosystem conservation for sustainable development. MFF focuses on the role of healthy, well-managed coastal ecosystems as a contribution to building human resilience in ecosystem dependent coastal communities in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Myanmar, Pakistan, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Viet Nam and Myanmar. The initiative uses mangroves as a flagship ecosystem, but MFF is inclusive of all coastal ecosystems, including coral reefs, estuaries, lagoons, sandy beaches, sea grasses and wetlands. The National Coordinating Body of Indonesia, chaired by the Ministry of National Planning and Development (BAPPENAS) withmembersMOMAF, MOEF, MOHA, UNDP, WII, LPP Mangrove and other mangrove experts, provides overall guidance and technical oversight to MFF in Indonesia. Wetlands International Indonesia (WII) provides secretariat and project management support to MFF.

Eligible applicants, grant amount, and project duration: MFF Indonesia invites NGOs, CBOs, academic and research institutes to submit project concept notes for its Small Grant Facility. The maximum grant amount is Indonesia Rp 200,000,000. Project duration is 10 - 12 months.

Geographic and Thematic Focus: The project locations are in coastal areas of north Java Island, specifically in Probolinggo and Situbondo Districts in East Java Province and Banten Bay in Banten Province. Thematic focus of the project will be:

1. Improving coastal ecosystem function and services through mangrove and coastal vegetation rehabilitation;
2. Building capacity of women group to enhance livelihoods in producing and marketing of mangrove and fish-products;
3. Supporting implementation of government policy and regulation on the coastal ecosystem management;
4. Improving coastal livelihoods through building capacity of fishers and fish-farmers on product diversification and for better market access.
